Dwarf Bust WiP
When learning to use my new tools for digital 3D creation I was trying to do too much at once. Yes, I want to create some awesome landscapes and set pieces and creating a fantasy library scene from scratch would be an amazingly exhausting undertaking that, one day, I will accomplish. However, when trying to learn too many facets of a program at once I end up accomplishing very little and getting disheartened. My primary aspiration has always been to be a “Monster Maker.” So I am focusing my learning towards skills for character/creature creation.
This dwarf-like being is the first thing I have sculpted in Blender that I feel is worthy of sharing. I know he has no ears and a dwarf with no beard looks rather odd, but here he is none-the-less. He has only basic, flat colors with no real development towards a believable skin tone, but this is as far as this specific character sculpt will go. I learned some things when making him, now I am moving on. Not sure what is next, but I’ll be sure to post it once it is “ready for public viewing.”
Kostas Map (basic Land-Masses)

The base water and land masses for the fantasy world I have been working on (in writing) for several years now.* The characters, races, cultures & creatures I have in writing have come to a point where a legitimate visual reference is needed to ensure a level of consistency throughout the world and the interaction of its inhabitants. This is just the beginnings of the surface terrain map. This does not have any sort of topography at this time (other than some water depth). There are currently no rivers, as I will need to place mountain ranges before I know where the rivers should go. There will also be a subterranean map as well as a map/guide to the several land masses which float/fly about the worlds surface. I imagine I will be jumping around a lot in the continued creation of this world as I have a tendency to get side-tracked. However, I am purposed to only divert artistic focus onto other aspects of this fantasy worlds creation and not other projects. Hopefully I will gain some more ground on the map before something else distracts me, but we'll see....

*special thanks to donjon's RPG tools for giving me a helping hand, specifically in creating interesting, believable land masses.

Rock Wall
I felt the stones appeared a bit too simple and not quite the look I was going for. My wood texture also did not show the painted details like I wanted, but I learned some new tricks, now time to move on.
Wall Tile
a "tile" I created for making the exterior walls of buildings. Still need to make one with a window and one with a doorway, but once those are done I will have the basics to make the outer face of any small village-style building :-)
Scene Rough
so...i couldn't wait to share. this is not the full render, this is the rough preview render I get to see while working on the final. Currently the lighting is not at full intensity, the plants have no texture and have WAY too obvious of a repeating pattern. I think the roughs like this is all I will post until I am completely done with my current scene, since rendering all the elements is such a time-intensive ordeal.
My goal is to post my works-in-progress as well as my complete creations as I begin to delve into the realm of 3D graphics. I will primarily be using Blender, but may also occasionally utilize DAZ3D and Sculptris.
I hope to complete a project or work assignment every day. These projects will either be done while following a specific tutorial, or based off the knowledge/skills I have acquired from having viewed said tutorials.
I am starting from ground zero, so I warn you: the first several images posted will be rather boring. My goal in posting the beginner stuff is not only to show my progress, but my rate of improvement as I continue to familiarize myself with the tools I have at my disposal. Feedback and constructive criticism are always welcome.
